De-escalation and Crisis Prevention Class Two: Safety Planning and Crisis Prevention

When: Tuesday, June 2 - 11:30 AM

Duration: 1 hours 30 minutes

Location: Zoom

Event Details:

In our second class, participants will discuss how they can support families to create plans with youth, children, and families to prevent conflict and escalation. In preparation for this course, participants will view Dr. Ross Greene's 90-minute webinar on Understanding and Addressing Childhood Aggressive Behavior . In class, participants will discuss how Dr. Greene's ASUP tool (Assessment of Skills and Unsolved Problems) can aid them in their practice, collaborate with one another on how to navigate some of the challenges associated with implementation, and practice with a case scenario.

By the end of this certificate program, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize how they, as providers, experience escalation and conflict with clients, and how this is connected to clinical decision-making.
  • Identify and practice applying effective strategies for de-escalating conflict and responding to negative affect and aggression.
  • Demonstrate how to effectively create a plan with youth, children, and families to prevent aggressive behavior and avoid crisis situations that could present a risk of harm to self or others.
